What Memnon does

Memnon is a voice-memo processing service for teachers. You record audio — in the browser, via the iOS share sheet, or by uploading a file — and Memnon transcribes it, processes it using AI shaped by your chosen pedagogical and reflective preferences, and saves a structured note to your Google Drive. All your notes stay in your own Google Drive account.

What data we collect

To provide the service, Memnon collects and stores the following:

We do not store your audio recordings. Audio is received, transcribed in memory, and immediately discarded. Transcripts are used only to generate your note and are not retained beyond the processing request.

How we use Google Drive access

Memnon requests the drive.file scope, which limits access to files and folders that Memnon itself creates. Specifically, Memnon uses this access to:

Memnon does not read, modify, or access any other files or folders in your Drive. It cannot see files you created or any other app created.

Audio processing

When you record or upload audio, it is sent over HTTPS to Memnon's server, transcribed using OpenAI Whisper, and summarized using OpenAI GPT-4o-mini. The audio and transcript are not stored after processing completes.

Memnon is designed for professional and personal reflection. Please do not record audio containing sensitive personal information about others (student names, health records, financial details) unless you are authorised to process such information.

Third-party services

Memnon uses the following third-party services:

Wisdom sources

Memnon includes a curated library of passages from philosophical, spiritual, and literary traditions. These passages are used to ground your reflective notes. No personal data is associated with which passages are selected. Aggregate usage counts (which voices are used most often) are stored in your user profile to support future features.

Data retention and deletion

Your account data (name, email, settings, Drive tokens, and note metadata) is stored in Firebase Firestore for as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data, email eitanfire@gmail.com. We will remove your data within 30 days of your request.

Notes saved to your Google Drive are yours — Memnon does not delete them and they remain entirely under your control.

Revoking access

You can revoke Memnon's access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions and removing Memnon. This immediately stops any further access to your Drive.

Security

Drive access tokens are stored encrypted in Firebase Firestore and are used only server-side to write notes. Tokens are never exposed to the browser beyond the initial sign-in flow. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Children's privacy

Memnon is intended for use by educators and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
